BMW modified the 1-series models and launched a new 3-ddor sports hatch variant. The changes to the example were tail-light and small headlamp revisions, new front and rear bumpers and small revisions to the inside. The dashboard has been modified and a gear indicator is present on the models with manual transmission.

New technologies added to the model are an auto start-stop function, electric power steering, an electric water pump, brake energy regeneration; a host of drivetrain modifications designed for fuel economy, lower emissions and increased performance.

The 1-Series is effectively the best in the domain to have soft hybrid engineering as common equipment, although BMW is certain in its selling non to judge it as a hybrid vehicle. The 1-Series will get on sale in Europe during the spring of 2007. Ongoing rumors that the 1-Series is taking for the US have even non been supported.

In Australia, the 1-Series three-door will not go on sale, only keeping the 5-door variant. However, Australia and many other countries may also get a rumored coupe convertible model.
